Recycled Steel Eco Locker

Sustainable Storage Built from Recycled Materials

The Recycled Steel Eco Locker delivers the same structural performance, durability, and finish quality as our standard steel lockers while meeting the material sustainability requirements that an increasing number of institutions, corporations, and government agencies mandate for new construction and renovation projects.

Every eco locker is manufactured from cold-rolled steel containing a minimum of 50% post-consumer recycled content — verified through our steel supplier material certification program. This recycled content directly contributes to LEED MR Credit 4 (Recycled Content), providing documented compliance data that project teams need for green building certification submissions.

Sustainability extends beyond the recycled content of the raw material. Our powder-coat finishing process uses zero-VOC formulations that produce no volatile organic compounds during application or curing, meeting the most stringent indoor air quality standards. The finished lockers emit no measurable VOCs in service, qualifying for LEED IEQ credits related to low-emitting materials. At end of life — typically 15 to 25 years after installation — the steel locker body is 100% recyclable, closing the material loop and avoiding landfill disposal.

LEED-Certified Buildings

LEED-Certified Buildings

Green building projects pursuing LEED certification require documented recycled content and low-emitting materials. Eco lockers provide the verified data and compliance documentation that LEED submittals require.

Government Green Mandates

Government Green Mandates

Federal Executive Orders and state procurement policies increasingly require minimum recycled content in purchased products. Eco lockers meet these mandates with third-party verified material certification.

University Sustainability Programs

University Sustainability Programs

Universities with published sustainability commitments use eco lockers to demonstrate progress toward campus-wide recycled material and carbon reduction goals in student-visible infrastructure.

Corporate ESG Reporting

Corporate ESG Reporting

Companies reporting Environmental, Social, and Governance metrics can document eco locker purchases as tangible contributions to recycled material procurement targets and low-emission facility improvements.

Eco Lockers: Sustainable Storage Without Performance Compromise

Sustainability in building products is no longer a premium niche — it is a baseline expectation for institutional, corporate, and government procurement. Recycled steel eco lockers meet this expectation by providing documented environmental credentials that support green building certifications, satisfy procurement mandates, and demonstrate organizational commitment to resource conservation — all while delivering the same structural performance, durability, and aesthetics as conventional steel lockers.

Understanding Recycled Steel in Locker Manufacturing

Steel is one of the most recycled materials on Earth, with an overall recycling rate exceeding 90%. The electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking process melts post-consumer scrap steel — automobiles, appliances, structural steel — into new sheet steel with material properties identical to virgin-source production. Our eco lockers use EAF-produced steel with a minimum 50% post-consumer content, verified through mill certificates that trace the recycled content from source scrap through finished sheet steel to the completed locker product.

LEED Credit Contributions

Eco lockers contribute to multiple LEED credit categories. MR Credit 4 (Recycled Content) recognizes the post-consumer recycled steel content. IEQ Credit 4 (Low-Emitting Materials) recognizes the zero-VOC powder-coat finish and the below-threshold VOC emissions of the installed product. These contributions are documented through our LEED submittal letter, which provides the project-specific data that LEED reviewers require — recycled content percentages by weight, VOC emission test results, and material cost calculations for credit threshold compliance.

Durable Lockers That Are Also Sustainable

The greatest sustainability feature of any product is longevity. A locker that lasts 20 years before replacement has half the lifecycle environmental impact of one that lasts 10 years, regardless of material source. Our eco lockers carry the same 15-year warranty and use the same 16-gauge steel, powder-coat finish, and hardware as our standard products — ensuring that the environmental investment in recycled material is protected by construction quality that delivers a full service life.

End-of-Life Recyclability

When an eco locker eventually reaches the end of its service life, the steel body is 100% recyclable through existing scrap metal infrastructure. Unlike composite materials that must be landfilled because their constituent components cannot be separated, steel lockers are a single-material product that recyclers readily accept and process. This cradle-to-cradle material flow means that the steel in today eco locker will become tomorrow automobile, appliance, or building structure — continuing the cycle of material reuse that minimizes extraction of virgin resources.
