Evidence and Property Storage Locker

Secure Chain-of-Custody Storage

The Evidence and Property Storage Locker is designed to meet the unique requirements of law enforcement, legal, and regulatory facilities where chain-of-custody documentation and tamper-evident security are mandatory. Unlike conventional storage lockers that simply secure personal belongings, evidence lockers must demonstrate that stored items have not been accessed, modified, or contaminated between deposit and retrieval.

Our pass-through design allows officers in the field to deposit evidence through a one-way door on the intake side, while only authorized evidence custodians can access items through the retrieval side. This physical separation ensures that depositing officers cannot access items already in storage, maintaining the unbroken chain of custody that courts require for evidence admissibility.

Each compartment features an individual tamper-evident seal mechanism and an integrated evidence tag slot that accepts standard chain-of-custody documentation. Heavy-gauge steel construction with anti-pry reinforcement provides physical security, while optional electronic access logging creates a digital audit trail of every access event — who opened the compartment, when, and for how long.

Ideal For

Trusted by facilities across every sector

Police Departments

Police Departments

Evidence rooms in police stations require storage that demonstrably maintains chain of custody. Pass-through lockers allow patrol officers to deposit evidence without entering the evidence room, while evidence technicians retrieve items from the secure side.

Courthouses

Courthouses

Court evidence storage rooms hold items that may be critical to ongoing trials. Individual compartment keying and tamper-evident seals ensure that evidence integrity is maintained throughout the legal process.

Federal Agencies

Federal Agencies

Federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies require evidence storage that meets CALEA accreditation standards. Our evidence lockers are designed and documented to support these compliance requirements.

Hospital Security

Hospital Security

Hospital security departments temporarily store patient valuables, recovered property, and items relevant to incident investigations. Evidence-grade lockers provide the documentation and security appropriate for items that may become part of legal proceedings.

Evidence Storage Lockers: Protecting Chain of Custody

In law enforcement and legal environments, the value of stored evidence is directly tied to the integrity of its chain of custody. A single uncontrolled access — or even the appearance of one — can render critical evidence inadmissible and compromise an entire investigation. Evidence storage lockers address this requirement through physical design features that make unauthorized access detectable and documented, providing both actual and demonstrable security.

The Pass-Through Design Principle

The fundamental innovation of evidence lockers is the pass-through configuration. The intake side features a one-way deposit door that allows officers to place items into a compartment but prevents them from reaching items already stored. The retrieval side is accessible only to authorized evidence custodians through individually keyed doors. This physical separation creates an air gap in the custody chain — the depositing officer and the retrieving custodian never have simultaneous access to the same compartment, eliminating the opportunity for undocumented handling.

Tamper-Evident Security for Legal Compliance

Every compartment in our evidence locker system features a tamper-evident seal mechanism that uses sequentially numbered, single-use seals. When evidence is deposited, a new seal is applied and its number recorded in the chain-of-custody log. Any subsequent access requires breaking the seal — a visible, irreversible action that is immediately detectable during inspection. This physical evidence of access or non-access provides the documentation that courts require to establish evidence integrity.

Electronic Audit Trails for Modern Evidence Management

Digital evidence management systems increasingly require electronic access logging that integrates with department records management software. Our electronic evidence lockers record the badge or credential used to access each compartment, the exact time and duration of access, and the compartment number — creating a searchable digital audit trail that supplements physical chain-of-custody documentation. This electronic record provides defense-proof documentation that stands up to the most rigorous legal scrutiny.

Specialized Compartments for Diverse Evidence Types

Not all evidence fits neatly into standard compartments. Our evidence locker systems include options for oversized items (firearms, clothing in bags, electronics), bio-hazard specimens (ventilated compartments with sealed bags), and temperature-sensitive materials. By providing appropriate compartment types within a single evidence storage system, departments can maintain all evidence in one secure, documented location rather than dispersing it across multiple storage solutions with varying security levels.
